The Outdoor Kitchen
A full kitchen built into the garden wall
Under the shingles and a pair of teal shutters sits a built-in grill with a side burner, refrigerator drawers, a sink and a run of counter. Glass-front cabinets above hold the glassware, so a whole evening of cooking and pouring happens without anyone going indoors.

The Bar
Stools pulled up where the cooking happens
The counter runs long enough to seat the group on woven-seat stools, facing whoever is at the grill. Post lanterns light it after sundown and a clipped hedge closes the far side, so the bar feels like its own small room out on the deck.

The Fire Pit
Herringbone brick around a stone flame bar
A round stone gas fire table sits at the centre of a herringbone brick terrace, ringed by orange-cushioned sling chairs and a teak bench. A market umbrella shades it by day; a navy Dutch door opens onto it from the house.

The Kitchen
Indoors, with the range at the centre
The indoor kitchen carries the same unfussy island palette as the rest of the house — painted cabinetry, open shelving, and counter space on either side of the range. It opens toward the living room rather than closing itself off.

The Living Room
Where the group ends up
Deep seating gathered around the middle of the room, with the stair rising along one side and a bar set into the corner. It is the room the outdoor spaces feed back into when the evening cools off.

The Entry
In through the Dutch door
The arrival point, kept deliberately plain: somewhere to drop bags and kick off sand before the house opens up beyond it.

The Striped Room
A bed under the eaves
A quiet room with its own vanity tucked in beside the bed — the kind of room that gets claimed first.

The Starfish Room
Room for the youngest guests
A bedroom set up for a family travelling with a baby, with a crib standing alongside the bed rather than in a room of its own.

The Yellow Room
The sunniest of the five
Warm walls, a made bed, and enough floor left over for a suitcase to stay open all week.

The Green Room
Another bed, another quiet corner
One of the five sleeping rooms, furnished the same unhurried way as the rest.

The Attic Room
Twins and a daybed up top
Up under the roof, twin beds and a daybed share the space — the room the cousins get, and the one they ask for again.

The Bunk Room
Built-in bunks for the crew
Bunks built into the wall, which is the clearest sign of what this house is for: more beds than bedrooms, so nobody gets left on a sofa.

The Baths
A shower bath and a tub bath
Two baths serve the house: one with a walk-in shower, one with a tub. Both keep the same plain island fittings as the rest of Crew.

The Grounds
Gardens, a hammock, and a whale on the shed
Deep mixed borders — hydrangea, lavender, ornamental grasses — run right up to the shingles, with a brick walk out to the lawn. A hammock hangs at the back, and a whale weathervane turns above the garden shed.

I stayed at Tom & Maryjo’s house in Nantucket for 3 amazing days with two friends. They were the most generous hosts and on the last night, we came home to a lit fire pit and a bottle of wine! They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. The place is gorgeous, I would return in a heartbeat!

The cottage hosted by Mary-Jo and Tom is a lovely place to be based in Nantucket. It is walking distance to Nantucket town, but out of town with a yard and incredible garden, outside seating and space. The kitchen is modern and well-stocked.

Mary-Jo and Tom’s cottage (and, surrounding property) is absolutely beautiful, impeccably cared for and comfortable like you just moved into your home away from home. My kids & I were spoiled with all the outdoor amenities (games, beach gear, fire pit to gaze at stars, large outdoor shower, gardens, and let’s not forget where we ate all our meals in the outdoor kitchen!).
